The last thing that James Hansen wrote he said that some people he talked with know that what we are doing is only a band aid and that the train has already left the station. He wrote that for a reason. To let people know that a decision as been make by some to not try. The wimp's need to find some courage and let's give this a try. They like to tell people how smart they are and how tuff they are when in reality, wimp's. China has a very good reason to be frightened nature of the beast and that would be there population and where they sit on this planet. They will see major changes first and letting millions die will not solve the problem that's not how it work's. I am sure that some and that easy way out that is there thinking and China must know this. Again that is not how it work's but how it doesn't work.

don, those people who love supremacy, giving it up may be impossible.
it seems we have to reduce energy we use today by at least 20%.
or will we use more tomorrow than today? and next decade more than in '10?

in any case, china is also frightend to death. Seeing possible evanescence, it has nothing to lose by contributing to destruction of much of biota.
the die is cast. We either apply interdependence or continue with brutal and antihuman independence.
we cannot survive worldwide americanism as it is now regardless what we do with energy consumption.
so, we are confronted with two possible threats to our existence: americanism and warming. tnx bozhidar b.

Why are they wimp's because when they don't understand something that they learned in high school they bring up Thomas Jefferson or think how the problem can be solved with the military, wimp's. They are old thinkers Dinosaurs holding on to an old way of thinking in a very new World, wimp's. A new way of thinking is needed and needed soon. Let's just take one example this whole Colen Powell, Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney thing and who is in control of the Republican party is called insanity folks. That is with the problems we all face. I guess it makes good TV as the problems only become harder everyday for all of us. I don't think these wimp's are in control of very much except maybe that illusion of knowledge better known as bullshit. Could the President of the United States go on TV for what I like to call the people of Earth speech with sleeves rolled up no coat and start off with people we are in deep do do. Can't do that why not we can't handle the truth, wimp's. 2 million to start capital calm at peace one voice we can handle the truth you can't, wimp's.

So far it's the easy way out and the best way to describe that is so far the people running the show are wimp's. Hard thinking hard work is for other people and there dry cleaning bill on a whole must be the GDP of some countries. A few years ago we were told by people who do the hard thinking that a Herculean effort is what it will take to slow this down and so far a Herculean effort alright called bullshit. To do some hard thinking and understand that "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler" could be a start. That thinking of course goes against this whole capitalist thinking that got us here and forget four planets to keep it going the one we have is already in trouble or the life forms on it is a better way to look at it. What would Thomas Jefferson do? I know talk to Mitch McConnell, oh that would do a lot of good. Wimp's well dressed wimp's.

To raise consumption of energy and materials throughout the world to Western levels, given current population projections, would require the resources of four planet Earths by the year 2100. To do so with the one world we have would so severely compromise the biosphere that the Earth would be unrecognizable.
– Wade Davis

By 2030 because of what we have already done to severely compromise the biosphere China and the States and India will not be thinking about how to raise consumption but how to survive. Still a little time to slow this down but not with the same thinking that got us here. So far it's still third grade thinking and yes there is some progress being made and that progress needs to be ramped up about 100%. To me the fight is on weather to try or go out with the most marbles. To go the second way we lose the big marble the we being life forms.

That's just 2016 how about with this present thinking by so called leaders the year 2029 when my son is 49 and my grandson is 26. What was it the right kept saying the last few day's in the House on the climate change bill? Oh that's right the bill will hurt the American people the little guy, what. I would be 81 in 2029. I am still waiting for the people of Earth speech. What would Andrew Jackson do. I heard that on Fox News seems important.

I hear many in California are finding it hard to get gasoline to get out. It looks like some made it to the North and Canada. They say gas could drop a little to $15 a gallon. It looks like more Russian troops on the border with China. Only 105 in New York today. I heard Marshall law was just declared in LA. I hope this gets through many web sites down. Stay strong.

"I don't think the American public has gripped in its gut what will happen. We're looking at a scenario where there's no more agriculture in California. I don't actually see how they can keep their cities going, either." (2009) President Obama's energy secretary, Nobel prize-winner Steven Chu,

What he said is it true? Yes it has already started for real as opposed to unreal.

China isn't going to control anything and neither is the United States think a power greater than ourselves and “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler”. When do you think we should get started?

"China is projected to follow a path that will make them the world’s leading greenhouse-gas emitter by 2020"

China is already the leading emmitter of CO2
As well as poisonous hot air from its corrupt political leaders.

Off with their heads, before its too late!

And now China wants to control 80% of the South China Sea, a claim that has no precedence in maritime history. Can you imagine what China will do to it in the process of exploiting its resources?

There are already people living like that, so no, something isn't magical just because it doesn't fit into your narrow little uneducated trash-view of the world. And yes, we will slow down, and thankfully some us won't descend into ugliness on the way.

Go this web site and look at the blue line. The reason it is headed Down rather fast is because the ice in the North is new ice it melts faster. Check that line in September and could be a new record for ice melt. Best data is ice free in the summer 7 years. Draw a line at 48 degrees around the Earth and that is where soon weather not climate changes and those changes not good for crops and human's and many other life forms. Hello bilbo and frodo.

I hate growth! What about just local democracy--kind, cooperative communities where the environment is kept clean and a minimal amount of solar, wind, tidal, and geothermal energy is used only, everyone has their own and collective vegetable gardens/fruit trees, and that is the end of the story? Factories are trash incarnated.
