It was clear to me with his appointment of the rancher (no, they are NOT the "true environmentalists" they claim to be, in fact just the opposite) pseudodemocrat, Salazar, to Interior that Obama was just exactly as I had expected him to be.

emma,
imo, congress of today is in its nature/purpose the same congress of yesteryear.
what is different now are the conditions under which congress labors.
e.g., there is global warming. This alone forces the congrees to adopt new steps tho with same purpose in mind as anytime in the past.

technology has brought us more destructive weapons as well. In 18th and 19th century, US was happy with just controling s. america.
in 21st century, controling solely s. america does not suffice.

congress now sees an oportunity to acquire much or all of the planet. And it is going for it gung-ho.
so that's where the congress is. Congress, W.H. in key traits never change but conditions surely do. tnx

Where is the Congress? Ok the Republicans are dead, but ALL Democrats, too?????
Could this article be sent to a few, beyond Harry Reid, who is usually also asleep at the wheel?

Then again, "we look at the enemy and find it is us" : are we individually also cutting down our consumption? Not buy into the corporate hype?
Shutting down our TVs and not expose ourself and families to the corporate
hype and propaganda?
Joining environmental groups, instead of castigating them? Yes there are responsible groups, like Western Watershed, which do terrrific work but need our backing!
Are we TRU LYinforming ourselves about current issues, events?
And finally, are we letting our reps at the state and fed level know how we feel about the influence of the lobbyists, including Salazar and Vilsac?

“4° is a very, very dangerous amount of warming - that’s 8° Celsius of polar warming,” said Ronald Prinn, one of the MIT modellers speaking earlier this year at the European Geosciences Union Conference in Copenhagen. IOP

We warm the Earth 4 on average and the poles are at that point 8 C. What would that mean well think boots travel light and move fast. When will that start to happen it already has. Still time if we start now.
