They should have tossed that NAACP image award in the trash bin. What has the NAACP done to improve the plight of blacks lately? Not a damn thing. After all these years, the NAACP has zero influence in affecting legislation and public policy to benefit blacks. After the momentum and successes of the civil rights era, the NAACP should be as powerful as AIPAC and the Miami Cubans. But no - the organization, like its brethren in the Congressional Black Caucus, don't scare any politician, nor their Democratic party and its corporate masters. They are a freaking joke to be trotted out on MLK's birthday, Black History Month, and whenever someone utters a politically incorrect word.

As the auto industry sounded its own death knell via outsourcing beginning the late 80s, where was the NAACP to demand, threaten, and everything else in between auto makers and Washington save these good paying jobs? Motor city Detroit provided millions of blacks with working and middle class livelihoods. Now, the city resembles a third world country.

The foreclosure crisis continues unabated and affects a great percentage of black households and neighborhoods. Trillions go to banks, not to provide relief for homeowners. Cram down legislation got shot down in Congress. Again, the NAACP's clout is nonexistent in obtaining favorable legislation - nor in rallying and educating citizens in the fight for a good cause. Urban areas get redeveloped daily with a token number of "affordable" housing thrown in. Rural blacks? The forgotten minority within the minority. And where is the NAACP when all this is happening?

The 50k+ killed in the Vietnam quagmire, including the hundreds of thousands permanently wounded, included a great many black faces. Years later, we head into another debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan - this time with a biracial black president continuing the illegal and immoral carnage of his discredited predecessor. Anyone seen the NAACP organizing, shouting, screaming, cussing, demanding that their messiah president get some damn sense and stop sending more soliders to meet needless death and destruction?

Katrina show/showed how useless and non-influential black groups such as the NAACP are. They can't even keep the Katrina issue in the public eye, much less light a fire under the White House and Capitol Hill to force a govt supposedly of/by/for the people to do right by Katrina victims.

Tom Brokaw and media execs from USA Today a high powered jury? Omit the gussing accolades as Brokaw and USA contribute daily to the mis and disinformation that keeps the public ignorant.

Kudos to 2 Cent Entertainment. Looks like they can show the mainstream media a thing or two about real news reporting.
