There were alot of mistakes made in Iraq policy - no agruement there. But what "crimes" were commited by Blackwater? One individual probubly committed murder (Noonan - look it up), but no convictions have been made in any of the cases against Blackwater. And now even the forensic evidence states that none of the bullets (not casings) recovered from the Nasure Square scene, the Blackwater vehicles, or from the victims, match any of the weapons that the Blackwater team had with them.
Let us not compound the mistakes by subverting the legal system with the "court of the press" where half-truths and lies matter more than evidence.

The author says, "...Above all, the United States should be held accountable to pay reparations for the damage it caused and pay compensation to the victims of aggression. We should demand that the International Criminal Court takes steps to indict the alleged war criminals...."

FINALLY - another voice calling for reparations. Thank you for that. Today Sy Hersh was on C-span calling for reparations. A special reparations tax placed on US taxpayers would be a good way to discourage future wars.

About indicting the war criminals - sadly it will have to be some other country. US voters had a chance to elect State Attorneys General and/or County Prosecutors who have the authority to indict. The voters instead voted for dem/repubs who will never do it.

"Let us hope that . . . Obama's words match his actions; actions that will signify a . . . change in direction of American imperialist policy."

Where is all this hope coming from Nasir Khan? Your article exposed the lies and obsfucations of Obama's Iraq policy. And, as we've seen since the campaign, the President's words rarely match his actions.

Same for the peace/anti-war movement. These folks talk a good game but are still slaving on the Democratic party plantation. Obama's Iraq withdrawal plan is rife with loopholes, he keeps in place a proven warmonger as Defense Sec, increases troops in Afghanistan (using the same guise/lies as Bush to cajole Europe into commiting more troops) - and all the while the anti-war movement wrings its weakling hands with a bit of little whining (but not to much; don't want to diss the great Obama tooooo harshly).

As I've written on this site before, no Vietnam-era anti-war doings will go down as long as there is no draft threatening to make middle class, college bound, 18-24 year olds roadside bomb fodder.

Nasir,
You are absolutely correct. The Obama administration and his Congress must be forced to end the occupation in every which way. This will only happen if the antiwar movement wakens from its self-induced slumber and forces the issue.
