MC,

We know the politicians are bought. I'm referring to the registered Democratic voters. I used to be one, but my eyes were opened a while back.

bozh,

Hyper patriotism is absolutely frightening. Almost as scary as religion.

garret, right,
education, or as say 'education' almost in all countries is designed so that mulititude of children will be left behind.
if that was all, it wldn't be so bad but they are also left with a learned belief that americanism is great; thus, its schoollng is great; thus, if a child is at sea, it is because it is lazy. unmotivated; wants s'mthing for nothing; shld try harder and it wld become another great american. tnx

James Benjamin I'm so glad you were a bit late on that coffee. A monitor is a terrible thing to lose. I thought or sure that this would be the dead giveaway: "And all of them will join in unison and say no more funding for illegal wars." Stirring thought.

Garrett, you've posed the most telling question. What will their excuse be? I know who will utter it, Harry Reid. He'll get that hang dog look and say hmmm... "We're committed to bipartisanship, the new bipartisan ship." You know, I can't think of what their excuse will be. I suspect that they think that we're so stupid, they won't even offer an excuse. Maybe it will be, "Look this president is fighting three wars (Iraq, Afghanistan, terra), we can't bother him with single payer." Nah, they don't even respect us enough to lie to us.

Not to mention No Child Left Behind. Being a teacher, I know very well just how awful that crap legislation is.

"Progressives" will be thrown a few scraps to keep them in line, but no significant changes will take place.

The excuse used to be, "We don't have the White House or 60+ Dems in the Senate." Well, what's the excuse now?

Sarcasm is lost on far too many. Personally, I'm thankful that I'd already finished my coffee as I'd be cleaning a monitor rather than writing this reply. In the meantime, I'm now looking forward to paradise on Earth now that the Dems are on tap to have their 60 seats in the Senate.

i agree, michael collins is saying that the opposite of what he is predicting will happen; or, rather, is already happening.

or to put it in a form of a question, Wld uncle be that supid to have two parties or even single senator, congressman who is not with and of the uncle?

another question, Wld uncle have a constitution that all of it cld be understood? Or, to turn it upside down, Wld uncle [ruling class] alllow a constitution that is not understood by supreme judges? And only judges? Apppointed by the very same uncle? tnx

Dogwood, right indeed. Lets see how they roll over on this one. Maybe the party will sponsor anti single payer commercials.

They've got the majority but not the votes, I'm afraid. But they've got no excuse after turning over all that loot to Wall Street. That's a huge wedge issue, as in wedge between the people and those who rule.

Not to mention Single Payer Health Care. Now the Democrats and Obama have NO EXCUSE not to pass it.

See Ralph Nader's current, informative and to-the-point column on just this - at nader.org

F a c e t i o u s .... did it!

I too agree that the coverage of this story is dreadful. The myth of 60 Democratic Senators is meaningless. They don't have the guts to seat Franken, which they could have done when the Minnesota Secretary of State certified the recount. They have at least 25 DLC, corporatist members of the coalition. FISA, bankruptcy etc. were all enabled by these "centerists".

None of the items mentioned will happen with the mythical 60 vote majority including this:

<a>"And all of them will join in unison and say no more funding for illegal wars."</a>

If there were any people taking this seriously, I'll take the blame for that. Subtlety is usually not one of my traits.

End the war! Fire Geithner & Summers now.

Ah yes, sarcasm.

It works well with those brighter than the average bit of rock.

Facetious? Can we actually spell it? Would be interesting to know if we know what it means as well ...

I think if you take both jd and Miles comments you'll have a bit more truth than either taken singly. Smokin' facetious ... isn't THAT precious?

I hope this is facetious. If anything, Specter is an example of a fact that should be well known by now anyway: Dem. & Rep. are two sides of the same nonfunctional corrupt coin. This is the same dangerous/delusional thinking witnessed in the still ongoing Obamania. Washington has demonstrated, beyond any reasonable doubt, that they are in this for the big financial players (also known as: themselves). Rather than undoing all the fascist Big Brothery precedents that have been set thus far (just as often by Dem as by Rep), a "left" controlled Senate will work alongside Obama to, not only maintain business as usual, but to proceed with rigging more inequality and less civil liberty into our future.

Again, if this was a joke... it's a good one.
