The US public has been brainwashed from birth, for decades, to believe the unbelievable. That in the US anyone can 'make it'. Of course the truth is that the hereditary rich parasites of the everlasting Yankee ruling class allow very little social mobility, and nearly all of it has been downwards for the last thirty years. That people can still, in fact that they ever, invested faith in the 'confidence-man' Obama is truly frightening. Still, there are even greater, ecological, disasters looming, and no sign whatsoever that the Masters intend to do anything but protect their rackets, by any means necessary.

While the people were standing in line, waiting and hoping for new slavery, what could they have done? Could they have started to organize? And if they had, what could they organized around? Where were the socialists in the crowd giving them perspective on their current plight? How many new to the cause could have been won that day?

Amy says "she loves Barack Obama . . ." That's part of the problem. People are so infatuated with the man that they were (and still are) incapable of seeing through the marketing and hustle of Obama and therefore unable/unwilling to question his proposals (or lack thereof) and demand commitments that would benefit more people. Even now, the man enjoys stupendous approval ratings AFTER he hired a cabinet full of the same crooks and crocks who led the nation into disaster. No surprise though as the public gets its perceptions and "facts" from media that specialize in entertainment and misinformation.

It will be interesting to see whether people will wake up and realize how they are being screwed by both political parties, and, whether we'll see any mass uprisings/protests as the economy continues to tank and the Oval Office continues to create and maintain quagmires in the Middle East and beyond.

People should not have to "sell" themselves; the hotel-owners can go fuck themselves! There should be full-employment, with everyone making wages in democratic workers cooperatives. The fact that the corrupt fucking bankers can prevent people from renting an apartment or getting a job by way of the credit report makes my blood boil! You don't need a union to fight these people, you need a mob with torches!
