Thanks Emily for an eloquent and heart-wrenching plea for justice. The past century of worldwide warfare in which the U.S. has played a central role has been a relentless assault on basic human values. The whole idea of the military-intelligence complex as an entity above the law, operating in the shadows beyond restraint or accountability, has nearly destroyed even the idea of constitutional constraints on the power of the State. How can so many government employees, with families and loved ones, paid by the resources of the people of the nation, behave in such despicable ways? I hope that if any are called to justice they should be required to answer, for the record and in pubic, that simple question.

Thank you for this enlightenment Emily.

Craig Murray, once HM Ambassador to Uzbekistan, is giving his evidence on torture to a Joint Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights next Tuesday in the House of Commons. He has fought hard to get them to hear him.

He writes today about Condoleeza Rice's part in this shameful period of the US and the UK Empire. The government here knew it was going on and participated and yet Blair is now circumnavigating the world by air preaching about his faith.

We allowed aircraft to land and take off with their cargo of prisoners for 'rendition'. How evil is that use of the word.
Rendition - Noun - Etymology: obsolete French, from Middle French, alteration of reddition, from Late Latin reddition-, redditio, from Latin reddere to return
Date: 1601
: the act or result of rendering: as a: surrender b: translation c: performance, interpretation

He also writes about Khalid Sheikh Mohammed being 'waterboarded' over 180 times. Such cruelty and sadism by those who ordered it and by those who carried it out.

One of the saddest parts about all of this is just how far we have fallen, and how none of these atrocities warrants the anger that it most assuredly would had another country done this to our citizens in a government sponsored and wide ranging fashion. This country has of course never been perfect, but now it just seems so much worse.
