Mark E. Smith,

instead of billions of needless deaths via extinction, how about a thought way distant from the box that embraces an ascension of consciousness for those billions?

Apocalyptic means revelation. Ah, the West.

Best to you.

Juan Santos,

¡bien hecho, qué chido parcero! Outstanding writing with a great assortment of level-headed elements.

Life''s cure -- uncivilized civilizations. Tragic how the meaning of civilization is so oxymoronic to what has actually happened in the world.

You really nailed it with this, "The word “wild” in its origins, pertains to life which is unbroken, untamed, undomesticated, uncivilized. In its origins, “wild” means self-willed. Life itself is a threat that must be eliminated. That’s the final logic of the final solution." That continues to be proven time and time again.

"manifestly your destiny" ...crafty.

Transcending the old mind is the only key, the Mayans were on to something bigger than the West's predominantly shallow perspective can comprehend. Way too much shameful and ugly shi* has taken place along our de-evolutional path; genocide and ecocide as you mention.

"One cannot but react — be a reactionary (and I use the term advisedly, deliberately and consciously) when encountering the pain of oppressed people. " This is something I've tormented myself over at times with other people since grade school. Having traces of Lakota blood and distant lineage, I've always been outraged by traditional, heroic deeds of the white forefathers lectured at school. While most kids cheered aloud for the cowboys, inside I cried for the Indians. Reasoning with others was always a dead end of ignorance and disconnectedness from our human commonalities.

This is some really brilliant writing you've created, Juan.

¡Muchísimas gracias!

Best to you.

Excellent article, thank you.

Isn't it interesting that we are trained to heap the darkness contained within ourselves onto the narrow shoulders of historical scapegoats. Who is encouraged to empathize with Nazism or Islamist Fundamentalism? For that matter, why bother digging into America's skeleton closet - a quick, apologetic chapter on 'Manifest Destiny' is easier to swallow than progressive analysis and synthesis of our past.

Perhaps our society would be better served by acknowledging each individual's capacity and culpability for human atrocities, rather than crassly rebranding history or lumping evil into a convenient, disposable packet. Know thyself.

The most powerful summary I have ever read of the dark side of the human soul. Perhaps once we all get that we are all capable of evil, we can have hope of collectively healing ourselves. There is no question that currently Israelis are currently doing evil in the name of a collective insanity.

Thank you, Juan. The cancer, of course, as Derrick Jensen, Daniel Quinn, you, and others have said, is patriarchy, the absurd notion that the world was created for us, that we own it, and that we can do as we wish with it, that it is our property rather than our habitat and that we are not part of it but its rulers and masters.

Unfortunately, it isn't just white folks. The Palestinians are every bit as Semitic and patriarchal as the Israelis. The Chinese and Japanese are capitalist. There have been war criminals of every hue and pigmentation, even female war criminals. The Mayan, Aztec, and other indigenous empires were not a figure of speech, they were empires.

I believe, and hope, that the coming die-off will be the final one and that humanity will become extinct. Nothing we have done justifies the destruction of our planet and the billions of needless deaths that the progress of civilization has entailed. No music, poetry, literature, art, architecture, or technology justifies killing billions of innocents over thousands of years, each one usually having been murdered in such a way as to entail the maximum possible agony and humiliation before death.

We are not an ecologically viable species and even the few who understand the problem cannot resist the corruption of power. If even one human breeding couple survives the die-off, they will believe that they are chosen and special, that what is left of the earth belongs to them, and start the cycle all over. After every die-off, life becomes precious for a few generations and the children are given, out of love, a fatal sense of entitlement. By then we have reached another population peak, life becomes cheap and genocides common once again, and history repeats.

I wish it were only capitalism that must die, or only white colonialists who must die. But I think that for the earth to live, it is humanity that must die. The question that obsesses the rewilders is how to protect themselves from others. Each homestead would become a little Zion. It is possible to live in harmony with nature, but it may not be possible to live in harmony with other people. Like ants, we build our colonies, overpopulate them, and then go out and wage war against other colonies. We are big ants, with big brains and big bombs, but we are still ants.

bozh,

this is true. And certainly U.S. would have annexed parts if not for british or french presence.

'What does a few hats signify,' asked an anonymous writer in 1763, referring to Canada's staple, 'compared with that article of luxury, sugar?'"

Perhaps U.S. was confident waiting, though Jefferson thought Canada would fall in 1812...

This is a topic I am very interested in, but have done only minimal research on... bozh you too? Perhaps we should work on an article.

US found that it didn't need to "invade Canada" to take it over. It has accomplished as much through cultural, military and economic assimilation.

yes, americanism and ashkenaziism are two sister in deep hate and with vicious desire to rob peoples of their land; all of it +.
americanism wanted all of america; it cld be obtained only by extirpation or by redpeople( actually discolored/tainted in the eyes of white people) crying uncle.
zionism is almost exact copy od americanism. the difference being that americanism can swallow up israel; isr cannot eat up US. the reason americnism cldn't obtain canada (up to now) was because two strong empires stood guard over it. thnx

I'm humbled by your ability to comprehend and present such powerful truth. I hope this is widely read, understood, acted upon and lived.

If anyone reading this is new to this way of interpreting the world and find it appealing I recommend anything by Derrick Jensen. Peace.
