I know the fundamentalist Zionazis won't like it, but dreams of global empire through their puppet hyper-power can only lead to calamity for everyone. Best live in peace and leave visions of a world built by the deity for your delectation alone to the realm of myths and religious delusion. The same for Caliphates, Hindutva, conquering the planet for Jesus and 'democracy and free markets' We can no longer afford fundamentalist insanity. I think that's right and it's very good news for Christmas! As for Mr Baroso's comment, I think a more likely explanation is the the EU is trying to establish itself as an alternative power centre to Washington, not Moscow, not so as to become a "superpower", an outdated concept in 2008, but so as to be able to ward off the US and avoid Europe being dragged down with it. I don't think therefore that he's trying to kid anybody. He's just trying to sweeten the pill for the US elite. That's just European politeness! NATO serves no purpose now other than to provide a legal pretext for maintaining US forces and military supplies near to Israel.
