i'm so glad i had been tabula rasa (clean table) until i was 40 yrs old. by that time i was still only a halfdeveloped. but once brain started to grow i was on my way to understand the world better.
the best thing that happened to me was that i finished last in my class and quitting 'school' after 3 yrs.
as voracious reader/thinker, the obvious became the obvious.
an idea wld come to me; that wld kick off another; more ideas arose; more facts became known. and i'm only 78.
who knows what my brain may come w. when i'm 120?
and u know what? i'm still hoping to wind up in hell; it's tepid right now!

Just getting started and I have to say, "What the #$%&?"

"...he not only represents the non-white population of the US, but also the poor and oppressed in a way that no candidate has promised since Roosevelt."

He represents the poor? Is that why his campaign failed to mention the nation's expanding impoverished class which at present is historically absorbing additional members from the middle-class on which Obama mounted fork-tongued promises and hope?

There seems to be some confusion here, I thought Obama represents the principle financial backers of his campaign; Wall Street and the Corporatocracy -- not the poor and oppressed. Who's smoking what on the other end of this article?

And why the hell is it all about showing the world, is US narcissism still convinced that it is the center of the Universe?

If one is not even aware that he/she is continuing to be duped by a highly effective propaganda campaign aimed at allegiance to an utterly dysfunctional and corrupt plutocracy claiming to be democratic, how is consciousness going to ascend?

Best to all.

the blind faith in a 'leader' and 'government' (like the Candide-like innocence of the belief in a forever 'better' world), despite all the
evidence to the contrary, whereby the public gets screwed again and again, is probably due to the religiosity of those of the Protestant-Capitalist persuasion, which remains at the basis of this society. the
hierarchy of a superior being surrounded by lesser angels and his
acolytes (priests) predispose the public to meekly accept what is being doled out to them.

And it is not so much the leader of the pack that determines policies, but the gang he surrounds himself with. In Bush’s case that was what I would literally call the ‘rat-pack’, but frankly what the public now can see of the cohorts Obama surrounds himself with, there is not much hope….

organizations, movements bring only the changes that ruling class deems as beneficial/useful to it.
an empire like US w. probably 50mns rabid supporters will not be, i assert, ruled from streets.
no protest to date had even deterred a war by US et al, let alone prevented it or stopped it once it was underway.
no, no one wages wars w. generals on streets. alos US constitution does not allow street to influence governance.
this can be seen by naked eye.
passive resistance w. nongovernmental education is a better way to go.
establishing a second party wld also help.
and let us hope that godless gods will one day become more godful; provided they exist. thnx

Accountability, not faith or hope is what strengthens democracy. What we hear from many of our liberals these days, however, is the message of faith and hope.

What steered Obama to power was mass action with a good deal of help from the economy. What can push his administration to barely consider the working majority is grass-roots organizing, mass demonstrations and protests. The worsening state of the economy, loss of jobs, and increasing poverty will give us more reason to get out and protest. We just need to get our liberals off the empty messages of faith and passivity.

It is with great joy that I read about Dennis Kucinich's great plans for all of us - it has been a LONG time coming! Nothing could be better than to see Obama incorporating some of Dennis' ideals.
