This movement is more than National, it is International. Corporations everywhere are starting to put pressure on the working people. Do more for less. Make concessions so the corporation will make more money. It's time to stop. People everywhere need to start uniting.

I work for Canada Post. I have been on strike since Nov 17 2008. I belong to UPCE, the Union of Postal Communication Employees. We are a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada. We are 2400 workers. Over 90% of us are women.

The post office wants to take away our sick leave and replace it with a short term disability plan that is governed by a service provider hired by the post office to force workers who are sick back to work.

If a worker is to be off on long term disability then they are to utilize our country's unemployment plan. A plan which was meant for individuals who find themselves temporarily out of the work force. This plan is for people like the auto workers. The unemployment plan is their safety net. This plan was not intended for individuals who already have a job. Canada Post should not have each and every Canadian pay for my sick leave. This is a large corporation that has shown profit for over 14 years in a row. Shame on them!! Shame on the government that allows this to happen!!!

Yes, it is time the middle class worker stands up for their rights. This is going to be a long hard struggle for all of us in these tough economic times.

My question to you is, 'Will you do what's easy or will you do what's right?'

one union or even all unions cannot, at least, in canada achieve much if anything.
the reason for it? half or more of their members r right wing. thus, they r united w. leftists only when it comes wages, safety, benefits.
in US sit'n may be even worse.
establishing a second party in US might may influence governance or even govts.
but any ad hoc movement quickly dissipates; sinks in morass of futile arguments, political/religious/social divisions, etc.
in add'n, union members don't own work;precise intention of the constitution and system of governance.
and if u cannot change constitution nor governance, what is it that one can achive?
a temporary gain by a few people? thnx

I became very cynical early in my working career & now I am 71 & grateful to be retired. If the working people don't jump on this bandwagon hard & fast then you will be screwed some more.
Time to man the barricades because " THE MAN " ain't goin' down easy.
