I tend to read too far into things.
eg “crooks and liars in the system” read: broken system.
And he has a section about nukez in his about me stuff.

i reread reichel’s piece but once again i did not spot “full disarmament within a decade”.
he talks ab crooks and liars but not ab system that allows it.
he also blames ceos and bankers but once again omits to say how/why the blamatory deeds happen.
we need badly the why/how. just blaming will not do. nor does he say how he (probably lone dissident) wld challenge the right wing of the dem party.
actually that cld be also evaluated as a promise; and i evaluate all? promises as lies or delusions.
more cld be said.

And as far as entrenched, I don’t see how they could be painted any otherway. Emanuel is horrible, and Obama’s senate voting record isn’t much better.

Since I’m from Chicago, so would someone be willing to fill me in on whatever it is that makes this guy undesirable? From what I’ve read on his site he seems alright.

Suspicions are raised by anyone who claims to be worthy of power. I graciously accept identifying one’s self as principled, but true leaders who possess all the right qualities and who would be put forth by an established movement as the ideal representative would be reluctant to want to run for office. Sure, there are exceptions, but self idolization ain’t it, and seeking power is egocentric.

Mr. Reichel is a oddity in current politics in that he is running as an anti-establishment candidate and portraying Obama and Emanuel as entrenched figures of the political establishment. He is framing them as the part of the entrenched power structure these past few years. That is quite a leap.

I won’t offer this campaign any insight into what it’s doing wrong, because I am rooting for it to fail.

Sara Feigenholtz is hardly a “hack” as you allege in this article. As the sister of someone living with autism, and as someone who lives in Sara’s house district, I have seen Rep. Feigenholtz do more for health care reform and secure more funding for people living with developmental disabilities than anyone else mentioned in this article, including you Mr. Reichel. In fact, one of her biggest criticisms is that she might be too liberal for the 5th District. In any case, while she may fail to live up to your extreme standard of progressive politics, she certainly lives up to my standards of what it means to be a good lawmaker and and a compassionate public servant.

Good luck getting votes in those conservative parts of the Northwest Side.

reichel sees two parties; i see only one. he omits to say that US has no legal nor moral right to attack any land under no known circumstance.
he’s not for abolition of WMD.
the rest of what he says was not worth reading as it is flooded w. brilliant (but meaningless-meaningful) utterances accomanied by wishes, conclusions, half truths. etc.
ok, i support free speech. but i don’t have to agree w. reichel. i also don’t have to read anything he puts on DV.

I would agree with your assessment of the district, but the Democratic Party in Chicago is fundamentally corrupt. The Green Party is striving to become the second party (because, as you know, there is basically one-party rule in Chicago/Cook). I’d encourage all progressives in the 5th district to pull a Green ballot in the primary.
