Polack,

Things must be pretty good over there in Idaho. You say that ''life in a constant paradise could become tedious''. I think I understand why you may say that. However, a kid in the DRC could accept your definition of 'boring' if it means not being hunted by soldiers to elist him/her into the army; or a kid in Niger may enjoy the 'boring' life if it means food in their mouth; an Iraqi/Afghan kid may be tempted to accept the 'boring' activity of playing with a real football, not a grenade or leftover cluster bombs..........and I'll definitely accept this 'boring' life as well!

Sorry to be anal about your posting, but give me boring over murder any day.

Nevin, you make a great point, very succinctly. It always amazes me that people are unable to understand a simple fact, that money is a highly coalescent thing, and has a natural tendency to aggregate - and power is never far from the money. "Plutos", as our friend BBB says, do what they need (or think they need) to stay on top, mostly via paid middlemen posing as writers, commentators, etc. There is probably no permanent solution to this problem (and this may be just as well; life in a constant paradise could become tedious), but there is chance coming now and then, when plutos overreach, or the spread between their money/power and intelligence becomes too great, and the center folds (temporarily). We may be witnessing a beginning of such event.

An interesting article. In my opinion, in the history of human kind, there has always been oppressors and oppressed. Those who control power, which is the small minority and those who have little power and financial capital, which are the masses. This thug of war between the two classes will continue to exist until the end of time if you ask me. In the mean time, there are those who are able to think out side of the box and try to be moral as much as possible in their power. And there are those who will be in eternal deep sleep and will live and die with out really understanding the reality of the system. It's that simple in my mind. :)

i have been aware for at least 3 decades that rich people will do anything against peasants, workers, et al, if they lift their heads and cast a longer look.
the plutos had always done that. and they always will do that.
and most socialists r aware of plutocratic 'dogmas': we shall rule; we r educated; we must lead; they r lazy; need our leadership; they r uneducated (which is true, but after negation of a right to higher education); they'r unruly, stupid, fickle (true, but only after being disinformed/miseducated), stressed, fearful, etcetc. thnx
