It seems like politically active grassroot organizations will have to abandon their high-tech communication strategies if they want to have a fighting hope of initiating any real demonstrations on important issues. The age of writing blogs or posts or organizing online is over. We need abandon the media that makes it easier than ever for government to spy on us and infiltrate our space!

What a sickening state of affairs. But pre-emption can be a two-edged sword.

It will be of great interest to me to see if the Obama administration will, in any way shape or form, strengthen civil liberties by weakening these police state structures. I am not holding my breath. Why do I feel this way? Because he represents the same class interests as the Bush administration. Yes, there are two parties, but they both serve the same class. Those who look for substantive change when those class interests are at all threatened, are indeed fools. Yes, the ruling class, while its profit system which sucks the life out of humanity and the environment is in disarray, is indeed feeling jittery, as Bob Balkas writes. These are dangerous times.

Only an organized working class, which looks to its own resources and that no longer looks to capitalist leaders "to deliver them from evil", can defend itself from them. As the system continues to come up against peak oil and environmental degradation, it will continue to wreck havoc on both humanity and the environment. Ultimately this system will be so discredited, that the owning class will be able to continue to rule only by using this police state apparatus that the Bush administration created. If Obama doesn't have the stomach to use it, he will be removed.

i am not greatly surprised that the monolithic rule is targeting also journalists.
w. 98% support for it, i'd expect that the time had not come for that yet.
but this may be also a good sign; oneparty system appears jittery. tx
