Many progressive sites have dropped the ball recently. Those deeply entrenched in the Democratic party are obstacles, rather than aids, to progress; in fact, the Democratic party is an obstacle to change. The majority of members will never come around without a bump on the head, you know, something that makes them look around and wonder who and where they are. This certainly will not happen through any televised political campaign, which serves to do the opposite: reassure people that simulacra are reality, that change professed on TV means change in the life of the individual watching the TV. Just the way that one could learn how to survive by watching Survivor 7: Colonised Pacific island XVII.

The 'reality based community' is part and parcel of the Dem power structure, hence the braying 'more and better Democrats' mantra. Until the Left stands up and says no more, the DLCers and the like will be the only nominally leftists with any power.

Well said. I would also add that there are many other [alleged] progressive sites such as Crooks and Liars which openly cheerlead before the altar of Barack Obama.

David,

I'm not sure, but my guess is that no matter what he sells (the Hagee incident is the only time I recall that he did), Lieberman is an atheist-- if he even has the curiosity to reflect upon it.

Just goes to show that religious fanatics of any kind should not be able to join any political party.

People deranged by religion are not to be trusted and certainly should never be given political power of any kind.

Whoops, first sentence should read:

Allowing Lieberman to remain a member of their wing of the ruling party and also keep his chair of the repressive “fatherland” security committee is the latest evidence.

The Democratic Party is despicable. Allowing Lieberman to not remain a member of their wing of the ruling party but also keep his chair of the repressive "fatherland" security committee is the latest evidence. Forty years ago the SOB would have been thrown out on his ear ... long before the election. And, folks expect change from Obama? Hell, there's not even a hope of that.

I have been telling people about how Obama chose Lieberman to be his mentor and they just look at me in disbelief. How could this "progressive" have done that, they wonder? And then they go into denial that it ever happened.

Lieberman is the primary reason why NO ONE should ever expect CHANGE. Not that history doesn't make the compelling case, but just following Lieberman over the last dozen years and the Dem/Repub neocon coalition and Obama is RIGHT in the thick of it should make any thinking sane person realize NO HOPE there.

It is funny to read the "progressives" who are watching as O and his motely crew of super-neocons through them ALL under the bus.

Just watch as congress keeps this war going. The mindset is actually worse than during Vietnam. The powers figured out how to make any sign of dissent disappear, just by ignoring it through the media.

TruthDig gives you enough "progressive" wishful thinking to fill an ocean. How with the excuses pile up and for how long before it's realized that Obama is Clinton on steroids?
