Please join me in open defiance. I have twice donated to legal defense funds of dissidents accused of terrorism (SHAC Animal Rights Group and the Minneapolis Eight from this summer) copied the check and letter and sent them on to Justice, declaring myself a supporter. Put it on the line, these bastards have to be confronted in real ways.

Just as in the case of Bush/Cheney/McCain/Palin, sometimes I have to 'turn off' the whols USA for the sake of my own sanity.

Surely this period in history will come to be studied as a time of mass depravity never to be repeated. I hope so.

Civil liberties in US at this moment are comparable with what existed in Poland in late 70s, when the party had a good hold on power, but one could say, or even print, pretty much what they wanted (not that it would do much difference). If that made authorities displeased, they would send in police to do a search, confiscation, arrest for up to 48 hr, or have an irritating person beaten up by "unknown offenders" - things like that. But the regime in Poland was weak at that time - they existed as a puppet government, that would not last a day, if USSR were to suddenly disappear. In US, however, you have an authentic, home-grown power structure, and that makes it much stronger - for example, police here is much more brutal and loutish than our police or Secret Service was in 70s (of course, it was QUITE different under Stalin...). But the boys in US managed to get a country close to a full FUBAR, and if they persist, they may not have enough things of value left to provide some kind of foundation for their rule. Probably the system would brake, before US becomes a gigantic Dominican Republic...
