Are you folks seriously thinking it's okay for people (or Gov't, which is supposed to act on behalf of the people) to refuse to pay their debts?

I agree, GWB is a piece of shit! No question, but the U.S.'s troubles began a long time before GWB came to power. Fiat money is the issue and Gov't over spending..

When people (or Gov'ts) spend money they don't have, and continue, the day of reckoning MUST arrive.. All of that spending can be on your favorite pet causes, and it's still the same.. OVER spending.

Liberal or Conservative, it's all the same.. with the same result..

I've read many of Marks articles and this one finally totally lets go of political correctness/intellectual rubbish. It was a fun read. I am just happy the Government (addicts) took the time to investigate completely and arrest and jail the culprits before asking Taxpayers for a penny. You know, just as they did on 911. This is Hollywood at its finest. We have not even been in the game in my lifetime and I'm only 55 years old. It's all been hollywood. When the addicts carefully/expensively put on their makeup it's showtime. Is the show for the American people? Hell no!!! The addicts had legislated the American people out of the process years ago. The show is for other nations like Saudi arabia, Kuwait, Germany, Columbia (oh never mind. I forgot, we don't have countries, we have unions now). They can't stand to look stupid so the makeup goes on long enough to make the American ex home owner into the culprit for this whole mess. Then I get in my car and drive to my slave slot to hear "the bailout has to pass", "people will lose their jobs", "Obama and Pelosi will save us" or my personal favorite (since I work as an evil Contractor with the US Army) "He's my Commander in Chief" meaning, I will blindly follow him until I get another one. Yes Mark, we really aren't the sharpest pencils in the box. It's all entertainment for me and nothing I see on Television is anything more than a diversion. Yesterday, a large truck pulled up in front of our house here in Germany and dunped a huge pile of wood into the street in front of our house. We got dressed and went down to help haul it into the back yard of a neighbor. Other people came too. It was fun to forget about the addicts and their habit for a couple of hours and remember that most Americans, Germans and others world wide will still do these things for free and for nothing. Thanks for the article, it really is one of your best. Don't forget to take some time away from the Scum to be with real people.

"Then again, I never imagined I’d witness an American administration whose death-dealing militarism and breathtaking corruption would dwarf those perpetrated by even the worst Latin American dictatorship, so there you are."

Technically, since most of those dictators were installed by the US government, it was already here for a long time.

I support 'deadbeatism' too; corporatism has fooled too many people into unknowingly, and with seemingly no other choice, indenturing themselves to corporations who organize society with their power of credit-reporting; this is especailly bad in the case of student loans, which are immune to bankruptcy and virtually all consumer protection laws; what is needed is for the private industry therein to implode upon itself.

I think the point about Argentina is excellent. The major turning point is when Argentina decided NOT to pay the debts. What is going to lead to a depression is that what is really needed is debt forgiveness or deadbeatism. One or the other.

I prefer deadbeatism. People should just fuck paying their debts and fuck fuck chapter 13. This is why the courts should not be involved in these "civil" matters by disallowing corporations to act as "citizens" with the power to sue individuals. What results by allow corporations to sue individuals including the real deadbeat collection agencies is the ATOMIZATION of people. Should folks collectively decide to default then they could be isolated one by one through the courts.

The $700 billion bailout and subsequent bailouts won't address debt relief for ordinary citizens. If a depression is to be adverted that is what is going to be needed. What is also necessary is the reduction of the need for money. In other words social services such as free medical, housing, education, reformation of the marriage, divorce, and family laws and the way businesses are organized and structured.

Here's to the glory of being a Deadbeat!
