What, the women's rights and gay rights movement, having large amounts of non poor people in them, have achieved nothing? You can't be THAT ignorant. Idealism dies an easy death - only an entire LIFE lived in struggle for a decent survival matters. San Francisco exists not as something meaningful, but as a symbol the country can point to to express it's "liberalism", it's "freedom", it's "generosity", it's "goodness". It's a total sham and utter propaganda on a city-wide scale. San Francisco can never amount to anything because it's denizens, deep down, understand all of this. They know their role, their know their complicity in imperialism - their dogs express this all too well. Don't even bother to organize idealists. They'll be idealists at age 20 and capitalist scum at age 25. Sure, you can exploit them, take advantage of their privilege, take advantage of their ignorance. But then look in the mirror, and see what you've become. Organize the people who care about the world and about themselves. Organize the people who will always fight for justice.
