Obama mesage of "hope and change" has no chance for helping the Palestinians. To survive US election filters, requires expediency, accommodation and short-range opportunism and not character, courage, integrity. Before the Senate race, Obama defended Palestinian rights, since then, Obama has become an adjunct to the hard-line AIPAC lobby. Hamas was democratically elected and should be recognized.
Anti-semitism today is the persecution of Palestinian society by the Israeli state/ AIPAC.

General Jim Jones was dropped as a adviser in favor of many Zionists.

"Hope" springs eternal."; but "Zionist reality" consumes "Hope" daily.

Just because a country claims to be "non-capitalist" doesn't make it much different from a capitalist country.

Soviet Union - instead of a few large corporations controlling the economy (modern Western capitalism) the central government controlled it. Not much different - in both cases it's a direct command economy and command society. The main difference is the need for a perpetual welfare state per communist logic. This income redistribution somehow made the Soviet Union a favorite among American leftists.

Cuba - this softer version of communism still features totalitarian control over the populace, just like all modern states. Just like the current "hero" of the left, Venezuela. A "benevolent" state is still a state, and it's not all that benevolent.

The only way to free journalism is the same way to free everything else - get rid of command hierarchies. Get rid of the state altogether.

Both the Soviet Union and Cuba are capitalist countries - they simply have replaced *individuals* called "capitalists" with the STATE which controls capital. This makes little difference - in either case it's a top-down hierarchical command society with no meaningful democracy.

Ron Horn is mistaken in one big way - workers are not the source of wealth "creation". Wealth is "created" by exploitation of whatever resource defines wealth. So if workers mine coal they are not the source of the wealth - the earth (and the universal functions that created the earth) is the source of the wealth. The workers are merely exploiting the earth - taking from it. If the earth was a person it would be called imperialism. Since it's not it's called "destroying the environment". The end position of this process is called "widespread human extermination" as well as "vast global destruction".

Marx's work is largely a scheme to transfer wealth from capitalists to workers - from the Mob Boss to the Mob Underling. Marx was not interested in eliminating the exploitation of the environment. He was just as exploitative as capitalists - he just differed in who he wanted to receive the exploitative benefits.

Here's the logic - if one defines something as non-existant prior to stealing it, the process of theft is called "creation". Thus according to Marx workers are creating wealth. The truth is, they are stealing wealth.

I agree with the first six words of Ron Horn's assessment. The experience of journalists and readers in every country that has declared itself to be non-capitalist, has, however, been much worse than that of those in capitalist countries. Or perhaps Comrade Horn considers Cuba's Granma and "People's Poland's" Trybuna Ludu to be shining examples of a free press?

This is an excellent insider's exposé of how capitalists control the media, and it is very similar to every other institution in capitalist societies. If progressive minded people are going to be effective change agents on this imploding system of capitalism, then this article must be widely distributed and studied. Working people are the source of all wealth creation. The establishment of worker controlled media is absolutely essential in this struggle to maintain our health and welfare as working people. Only then can we go on to establish system whereby we can control the wealth we create.
