It really is disgusting.

On top of that, you have the deepening economic crisis. And what set it off? The sub-prime mortgage crisis. And what set that off? A decline in housing prices. And what caused that? Too many houses were on the market.

Too many houses!? But there are homeless people. So how can their be too many houses?

Silly me, I forgot that under capitalism, houses aren't built to house people, they're built to make profits!

So there are too many houses to sell at a profit, even though there are enough vacant homes in the US to house half of the world's homeless population, which means that even MORE people will lose their homes.

Welcome to the Twilight Zone, otherwise known as capitalism in crisis.

By the way, please note that the above article first appeared at Socialistworker.org

When I read they (the Obama campaign) raised $66 million in August, I think how much that money is needed for much more important things, like homeless shelters, drug addiction services, nutritious food, heating for the elderly and disabled (and poor) this winter - what a WASTE of money! Bribes by the wealthy to gain access, which shuts out consideration for those of us who are poor. It should be criminal; it is certainly cruel, unethical and stupid.
