Fix the Fed? Get rid of it all together. It's congress's job according to 'a godamn piece of paper' to handle tha nation's money. What are we paying these assholes for?

I support ALL meetings of public officials to be recorded and broadcast. No more closed door sessions!

The financial scandal is man made. It has been planed by the capitalists with the help of corrupt politicians. All the public money has been looted. The poor policies are to be blamed. Let there be a complete meltdown. It is essential in order to bring out all those responsible for this scandal.

I agree. The problem with the Fed is that the Congress has been shifting more power to the Fed for reason that the Fed is supposed to be less "political". However the politics of the Fed has always favored the rich. Paul Volker pushed the economy into a deep recession in order to squeeze out the inflationary effects of the Iranian revolution. Instead Carter should have imposed a price freeze or threaten nationalization of the energy sector. That recession on yet another reason why Reagan defeated him in 1980.

Then in 1983, in order to pay for the huge Kemp/Roth tax cut for the rich of 1981, the "bipartisan" Greenspan Commission shifted tax burdens onto workers by lying to the American people that Social Security was in crisis.

For that Greenspan was rewarded with the Fed Chairmanship. During Greenspan reign his policies has always been anti-working class. Since the Fed is a political institution since economics is political, I agree that the Fed should be a part of the Treasury so that when a President takes over he/she can implement their policies and that the Fed is open to Congressional scrutiny. The Fed must be made transparent and open to the democratic process.

The Federal Reserve Bank charter needs to be taken away and the Fed functions need to be brought under the direct control of the US Treasury. Monetary policy needs to be open and to have political accountabilty as per the ideas of congressman Ron Paul.
