If you take into consideration not only the many factors in the disaster itself, but what it has revealed about the way the country functions ... then nothing short of a complete change of government personnel should have been acceptable in a so-called democratic country.

Katrina is a perfect example of how the system we have now diverts responsibility and hides behind it's mechanisms. The attitude of the administration harks back to Thatcher's 'there is no alternative'.

It's impossible to think that race is not THE factor in the abandonment of New Orleans. It is further testament to the utter bankruptcy of the Bush administration. Aid is rushed to (the country of) Georgia, Florida will be quickly rebuilt as usual, while New Orleans remains forgotten.
