Thiz article is a very ameteur writing. The guy is sitting somewhere in America or whrever and making judgements about the truth. He thinks he got the edge on the truth. He does not know at all how the Caucasus nations, all the "Stan"s, all the former Soviets, all the former Socialist republics peoples hate the monster called Russia. It is not that they love America or the West (well, many do) but they hate Russia with all their guts.

I live in one of these "former"s. I remember as a young kid how I was looked down on by Russians and their local national puppets becasue I could not speak Russian fluently. The author here is speaking about being American vassal. Let me ask you: who were we before? I can tell you Russian slaves. Russia has sucked our blood for centuries. Now it is time for them to go to hell. Long live America!!! At least America gives some benefits to the countries they involve but Russia is like a leach, a parasite just sucks your blood, and saps all the juice out and gives nothing back. ANd they are also very unthankfull. Very haughty. I hatttttteeee that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hands off Georgia IVAN!!!

Huh, I accidentally hit submit early.

I was considering voting McCain cause I like his pro-nuclear policy but I like Obama's idea of just talking to Iran.

Generally whenever we get scared of their tech it turns out to be hype. There are numerous examples. They've repeatedly fluffed their technology and scared us into doing something better. In one case they made everyone think they had a mach 3 fighter jet deployed. Turned out it was a hunk of steel with a vacuum tube computer that, upon reaching mach 3, would _permanently destroy it's own engines_.

In another case they launched two satellites into a very close orbit to make NASA think they had orbital maneuvering down already. Then NASA went and actually did it.

Anyway, what bothers me about this are a few things.

1) Neither the US or Russia is treating this consistently. The US is usually supposed to be all about the separatists. We're down separatists all the time. Kosovo, Taiwan, whoever. Unless they're separating from Georgia, of course.

And since when was Russia ever concerned with anyone's well-being? Since when did they frown upon violent crackdowns? Putin doesn't care about anybody. A hundred sailors trapped under the sea, Putin won't even cut his vacation short and they wouldn't let British divers rescue them even though they could have.

_Obviously_ this region is of some strategic importance. And seriously, I would even be okay with that. I would understand.

I'm just really tired of all the bullshit. I really wish Bush wasn't such a lier. I wish we could actually know why we're doing what we're doing.

2) Regardless of who did what or why, two very powerful, very nuclear countries are very pissed at each other.

Yes, lets start a war with Russia. They only have active plasma stealth for their airforce and dynamic ICBMs that we have absolutely no defense for, and those are technologies they've made public. Who knows what they've got underground, cloaking, force fields, a sound economic policy... you know, western fiction.

Excellent summary, Stephen. It's sad times we're living in that one needs to get their analyses from alternative media sources such as the DV because the mainstream media is firmly under control of pro-government propagandists.

It's also amazing to see the veneer of "freedom" and "free market" advocates such as those quoted in your article slide off so easily. The WSJ opinion pieces shows them for who they really are - bullying hateful biggots who will reach for economic (as well as military) weapons the minute they feel threatened - that's after decades of telling everybody else (and specifically Russia) not to use economic might for political gain. You'd think people would see it as an absurd contradiction.

in continuation of the above post, we need to dwell on why US wants to point missiles at russia.
but, hold it! maybe US won't?! to me, this conclusion apears the sanest of them all.
so, for US/EU nothing was lost but had to gain a lot if russians hadn't said nyet.
are russians onto this possible/probable ploy by euroamers? thank u

yes, it is thinkable: a surprise nuclear attack against russia.
yes, it's thinkable that russians are jittery when they think of all the possibilities.
have russians drawn the line? has rubicon been crossed? or are russians trying to scare US from installing offensive missiles against russia?
what can they think in view of the fact that if US was serious about iran threat, US wld surely install missiles in afghanistan or iraq or even georgia just meters from iran border?
so, are US planners that stupid to think we and russians are that supid?
or is something else going on?
