Certainly it is necessary to address the many mechanisms of hiding earnings as well. The high wages paid to the CEO's has not led to prosperity or even correlated to success and profitability for the companies. Supply and demand does not drive this. I have had the personal experience of being told that supply and demand does not cause wages to rise by recruiters. They have come approaching me saying they could find people with the skills I have. When I told tham that we should be able to reach a generous wage settlement then due to supply and demand I was told it did not work that way. If that is true for technically trained and college educated professionals then it is obvious that CEO pay is not driven by supply and demand either; just cronyism. The airlines, auto manufacturers, Enron, and the many troubled financial institutions today prove that it is not performance driven. There is a lot to be said for a maximum wage.
