The problem with this process is that it allows an administrative action (and not a judicial one) to deprive some citizens of their rights to stand for election. Being proscribed because one is simply under investigation -- and not convicted of any crime -- is not the result of a lawful and constitutional process. If those in power can remove opposition candidates from the ballot on the strength of an unsubstantiated complaint, how can that be called democracy? Whether or not the inhabilitados signed the recall petition in 2004 is immaterial; those who did sign it did so lawfully and in full exercise of their rights as citizens.

Cort.. When you say.. "..we have had to..." you mean you live in Venezuela? . If so, just give some ideas of where (just city and neighborhood, don't need any detail address) and I will tell you some places you should visit and people you should talk to.. After that, come back with your comments..
Your ideas for the PSUV (with people finger-pointed directly by Chavez) to take power does not seem very "democrats” for me and for the other parties in Venezuela. It would be interesting to know why PSUV VP Alberto Müller Rojas he does not want to agree to elect people from other parties (including Communist Party in Venezuela).. probably it would light up the concept of democracy for us, people from Venezuela..

Most of the candidates not able to stand as candidates are with the former MVR coalition not the oppostion.

In fact there are still many that should be banned from holding office like those that supported the coup.

I am all for democracy but we have had to many elections, the PSUV should take power and kick out the capitalists.

Bunch of lies. Clodosbaldo Russian is acting only instructed by President Chavez and he's banning candidates that have a lot of support from people.
How come Mr. Russian did not ban Mr. Silva, who is looking for Carabobo state governance and the guy is Spanish?. Or Tarek William in Anzoategui and the guy has an endless list of (proved) corruptions acts.
The Chavez regime is desperate to take control of the country states government and fear that even with a CNE (National Electoral Council) sold to its interest, the people will reject its policy the same way we did in December 2004
Chavez only wants an army of followers with no opinion that support his dictatorial ideas, while corruption is a way of life in this new social rich class created by the regime in the last 10 years, country internal production – including oil - is falling, unemployment and inflation are rising every month.
Write seriously.
