Ben Terrell reviewed this book here at DV on April 5, 2008. And I still have the book in my basket at Amazon.com, but I keep buying DVDs of movies for myself instead of what promises to be a very demanding read. I say "a very demanding read" as a someone with passing knowledge of the historical facts surrounding the achievements from roughly 1790 to 1803 of the colored people of Sainte Dominique and Toussant Leoverture.

There follow my two posts to Terrall's review of the book:

"Whatever measures the United States took to deal with liberation theology in Latin America — before, during, or after the 1980’s and 1990’s — it’s embargo against the island of Cuba, before, during, and after those years, has been the longest and most inhumane embargo in the history of the planet."

"But thank you for the excellent review, Ben. It’s made me want to read the book."
