Many types of veggies, fruits and herbs can easily and efficiently be grown on the porch, in the hallways, on window sills etc., in various pot and containers.
Also the hydroponics, which took off briefly, work very well.

stuck as i am in the city, my little garden is the thing that keeps me sane. i’ve thought of ways to expand it when the necessity of large scale food production arises.

i think of how fortunate i am to have this little space and the seeds to grow food and i compare that to landless people throughout the world going hungry every day. what a fucking tragedy.

In the 1970s we read books like “The Limits To Growth” and thought wow the next century will suck. Well we were right it does. Too many people, non-renewable resources used up, over use degrading even renewable resources (land erosion, fishery collapse, etc). So the only question is where is the best place to ride it out. That is wait until enough have starved and the remaining land, etc is under the ownership of one entity or another. The US still looks good (maybe also New Zealand , Australia, and Japan if you can fit in).

Bad spots India, China, Europe, Canada (cold), Russia (cold and polluted).

Blame the Elites! Blame the F..ck..g World Elites!
Ron Paul has repeatedly said in his campaign that ” I don’t want to run your lives, nor run and police the world, for the simple reason that I DON’T KNOW HOW TO…” This simply put is being HONEST and TRUTHFUL!
Now those other POMPOUS ASSES, the likes of Bush and a string of many others, in their Fart Inflated Egos always felt that they could…and to top it all they believe that they’ve been given the DIVINE RIGHT to do it.
Now WE have to clean up the mess these JERKS so ‘cleverly’ landed us with! And that’s if it’s not too late….

Agriculturally, on a national scale the singular element which would most resemble the cavalry to the rescue scenario can be summed up in one word: HEMP.

Of course, if everyone capable, and most are to a degree, grew their own gardens, herbs, fruit, etc., in whatever conditions they could muster, the positive impacts on health and happiness would be quick and impressive.
