A line has been crossed in this country, but until people have swallowed enough dukee, patriots will again be in the minority, left to bring about the changes needed in our land. One once said," the tree of Liberty has to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants". That seems to be a historical constant. They were a nuisance when they were here and no one is sorry that they are gone. We Irish have no need of Mr Sandy Boyer , "Radio Free Eireann" or any other arrogant American racist patting us patronisingly on the head and telling us what to do in our own country. Just look at the mess American meddlers of this kind have made in ex-Yugoslavia! Yankee stay home! Bobbie Sands, by the way, was never really a member of the IRA. He was a small-time, fairly dumb, apolitical criminal who was caught robbing a furniture shop becaues he was too dumb to know it had a silent alarm. The "pro-British" cops were waiting for him when he came out! He came in contact with IRA prisoners in jail and became a born-again republican. Thatcher's stupidity turned him into a "hero" in the eyes of some! Also by the way, the IRA was financed largely by Irish-American "Reagan democrats", principally the Irish-American "mafia" in the NY Police and Fire Departments. The same people are now supporting Bush's wars against other peoples who, like the Irish or the Venezuelans, for example, have dared to assert the "outrageous" proposition that they have the right to decide what happens in their own country. The only "progressive" position that Americans can ddopt is the US should not meddle in other countries affairs. And then DONT meddle yourself!!!
