I’m afraid we’re both right. Its ugly and has the potential for getting even uglier. I’d urge a close reading of Eva Golinger’s latest book, Bush vs. Chavez. Also, check out her latest piece on Venezuela Analysis, “Chronology of the 4th Generation War Against Venezuela,” http://www.venezuelanalysis.com/analysis/3287
Uribe’s “dodgy dossier” fits with her analysis, unfortunately, like a glove. In my opinion, a “Pinochet option” for both Chavez and Correa, is a distinct possibility though I can’t prove it. Golinger’s first categories are as follows:

*Terrorism
*A Dictatorship
*An Arms Race

So let me see if I got this straight: Colombia launches a US supported terrorist attack across a sovereign border right in the middle of Venezuelan sponsored hostage negotiations and that makes Venezuela “a state sponsor of terrorism”? Looks like you’re right, Tom. This little op has US fingerprints all over it.

I agree with you to a certain extent; if by “What matters is WHO they buy them from” you mean, drugs as a mechanism for financing covert and black ops, particularly when it concerns narcotrafficking by “allies” such as the Colombian paras, the Afghan-Arab database, al-Qaeda, or historically, the Contras, Afghan mujahideen, etc. Hence the phrases, “turning a blind eye,” or “protected intelligence operation.”

The ‘war on drugs.’
Substitute the word competition for the word drugs and there’s the elusive truth.
As in, a war on the competition.
Does anyone believe our government really cares if you or your kids use drugs?
What matters is WHO they buy them from.
