The reason was that groups like the Panthers supported ALL struggles against racism and injustice meaning that the Panthers were in solidarity with the Palestinians against Israel. This aspect is also why such "leftist" pulled away from their commitment from Civil Rights. One would never believe that Joe Lieberman was once involved in the Civil Right movement. However now Lieberman shows his true stripes as a committed racist-Zionist. Once again this has been a lingering failure of the left to confront Zionism and when African American did confront Zionism , the "left" chose to abandon principles.
