Beyond voting - which really means nothing with the electoral college - if any American got involved in politics beyond a village council, they'd see just how little power the common folk have. If you want to participate in the democracy beyond the poll booth, you have to belong to the club.

Even if Bush didn't play tricks to become the next Ceaser, don't you have to admit that American democracy is pretty much gone - really for a long time now? As I see it, it's like all the big boys and Hillary have said, "Hey! Enough games. We hold the real power - why go on pretending? If you don't like it, we're all prepared to throw you off to a corporate run prison by our corporate run army."

Move to Iceland - I hear they have a good health care system.

"Then you say you won’t vote for the lesser of two evils. So how come you want to run as a Democrat against Pelosi instead of helping to build and independent national political movement??"

I'm pretty sure that she declared her intention to run as an independence. Plenty of Kossack heads exploded over this.

Cindy
I applauded your statement 2 years ago condemning the Democratic Party and saying we have to build a "people's movement." Indeed there has been a dire need for a long time to build an INDEPENDENT ALTERNATIVE" MOVEMENT WITH A CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE CORPORATE ENEMY--TRANSNATIONALS AND BANKS. Then you say you won't vote for the lesser of two evils. So how come you want to run as a Democrat against Pelosi instead of helping to build and independent
national political movement??
Dave Silver

Then you declare you may run against Pelosi as a Democrat.

Cindy Sheehan has a chance to be the next Huey Long...I hope she's up for it, because I don't see a Dem gifted enough to pull an FDR if she threatens status quo. I realy do see a chance for her to do it too if she breaks onto the stage through San Fran (she will need a pope mobile for all speaking engagements when that occurs). Viva Cindy

Cindy Sheehan shows us again that she is our true First Lady and Mother of New America.

New America struggles to be born out of the ashes of USA and now Homeland.

Cindy would rather not vote than play the absurd biennial or quadrennial game again. She understands that "the fix" is in, and would rather "break my voting hand" before collaborating with the neolib-neocon elite or mainstream media again.

Not voting, especially not voting with a purpose--not voting so that it counts as opposition, and is not spun as apathy--is one of the clear-cut strategies to circumvent the nefarious "fix." Others--Howard Zinn, David Swanson, etc.--have proposed establishing a parallel government; still others--Kirkpatrick Sale in Vermont--propose the idea of seccession: an idea implicit in our Constitution (until Lincoln tangled it with Northern, industrial expansionism), and argued persuasively in the Federalist Papers and elsewhere.

John Adams wrote that the Revolution occurred in the hearts and minds of the people long before Valley Forge, long before Lexington and Concord. Likewise, "the fix" has occurred in the hearts and minds of a people trammelled by wars and internal dissent; a people hypnotized by gadgets and materialism; mis-educated in inferior schools and by an elite and complicit media, creating a "simulacrum" history--long on myths and short on facts.

Is there hope? Maybe not. Have we already passed the tipping point where rational civil disobedience and discourse could have precluded the presidential coups of 2000 and 2004, the creation of Homeland, the "fiasco" of the Global War on Terror, and--and God only knows what the manipulators have in store for us? I don't know if there is hope any more, but I do know that millions are energized when people of courage and conviction like Cindy Sheehan enlighten the hearts and minds of their fellow citizens striving to birth a New America in a just and humane world.

Cindy is of course correct; very little separates the currently available "crop" of candidates. I suggest we ALL vote for Steve Colbert (who would resign) and cause a real scare. Americans do in fact have the power--but have been sufficiently duped into not using it. If not Colbert, vote for "none of the above"--in huge numbers--and tell the elite the end of their reign has come.

NO ONE is talking about: making Israel responsible, abandoning imperialis, or abandoning the exploitation of the many by the wealthy few.

Simply stated; It is much easier to engineer an acceptable replacement from the existing pool of cheering whores already on the payroll.

All the leading candidates are licensed and trained lawyer/whores on the Zionist payroll.

Check them; Hillarious, Edwards, Obama, Guiliani, Romney, Thompson

All these whores have been carefully schooled to stand and deliver for their paying client.

O J Simpson paid plenty and was delivered from sin for a price.

Even Zionist lawyer Dershowitz flew in from Harvard to stand by O J's side.

Perception management and candidate management; what's the diff?

The probability that the toiling schmuckery/electorate will get the "option of voting in" Hillarious the yuppie lawyer and Zionist whore is very high, as you can readily see every day.

There is NO CANDIDATE WHO SAYS; "ELECT ME AND I WILL STOP TREATING ISRAEL LIKE THE 51st STATE."

Israel's chosen-ness is so sacred, Israel is only mentioned as "our wonderful democratic ally" in acceptable political discourse.

Nancy Pelosi is "nice," isn't she?

Israel will continue its status as the chosen state of the chosen people.

The untermenschen will continue to starve and die.

ISRAEL UBER ALLES.
