Dean was an insurgent candidate while Clinton resst firmly within the establishment. Dean's campaign was attacked by the establishment as they dug up an old remark he made about the Iowa Causus. The remark while true, IMO, upset Iowa voters and led to his defeat. I don't think you'll see that kind of "surprise" happening from Obama's campaign. I agree with spezio.
