Sad because government healthcare just "doesn't work". Geez where does that leave Australia where medicare (the government healthcare organization) competes rather actively with private funds, and while it doesn't cover all our medical costs it goes a long way towards helping low income earners pay their medical bills. About the only thing the government does to make it affordable is called the medicare levy which is a small extra percentage of tax on higher income bracket earners who don't pay for private health cover.
There is no reason why this cannot be workable for America, so where the hell does this realism come in? It doesn't hurt the corporations either to my way of thinking. I hate looking for work in the US because I have to come on reminding myself to pay attention to which companies have good health care plans for their entry level personnel. At least here in Australia all I have to worry about is whether or not there is a doctor who can treat me in the case of getting ill.
