Unless Ralph was running in the US presidential elections as a Lebanese citizen, I don't see how his ethnicity is relevant? My observation is about the US political milieu, not the ethnicity of the candidate. Or are you suggesting an Arab should never be described as an 'American'?

I think that sometimes people overlook minorities and the an overview that a person is automatically a European. That as Michael Kenny has pointed out is the proof. But again we must be very careful when we jump to conclusions. Even Hugo Chavez Frias is not strictly speaking a Latino, but of Afro-American origins. And for that matter, there are millions of people around the world who have been put into the wrong racial group by writers etc.

Small correction of fact: Ralph Nader's parents were Lebanese. He cannot therefore be described as a "Euro-American".
