So I think I got this quote from listening to an interview with David Milch, the philosophically minded, former narcoholic writer/director of the erstwhile HBO series Deadwood.  I don&#039;t know if he&#039;s accessible to questioners.  I&#039;m sure, as you suggest, that it has a longer history, but that&#039;s the only lead I have.  I wish I could be more helpful.
