Was he a football coach at some point in his career perhaps? A kindergarten teacher? Is there anything one can do for on behalf of Dr. Finkelstein? I live in New York City and am a great admirer and of his scholarship and courage. The Administration of DePaul University has done a very stupid and cruel thing; I offer my sympathy to the students. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any help to them or to Dr. Finkelstein. Such a compelling reason they should be ready and willing to express. Otherwise, it looks like an arbitrary decision. I'm shocked, yet not surprised, that the faculty as a whole apparently hasn't seen that this isn't just a matter of two people. Re the UPTB - who chairs this board? Who picks it? Who controls it?
